A silver gelatin print is a name used for a standard black and white print created in a darkroom, commonly known as a traditional black and white darkroom print. They are not Giclee' prints which use colour processes and are printed on an ink jet printer. A traditional black and white print is made by the oxidation of silver grains suspended in a gelatin mix that makes up the paper emulsion. This process gives the finished print much more depth and is richer in tone. Silver gelatin prints are far superior in quality to Giclee prints and much more collectable and are usually an investment. All of our silver gelatin prints are lovingly printed by Ilford. Keith and Neil from Ilford have spent a great deal of time working together so that each print supplied will be perfect, just as Keith intended it to be.
All our prints are produced on genuine ILFORD Black and White silver gelatin RC photographic paper. This gives you a true black and white print with no colour cast, it is as close as you can get to a traditional B&W darkroom print from a digital file and has significant benefits when compared to B&W images produced from other colour processes such as Giclee prints ( ink jet); The finished prints have so much more depth and tonal range with stunning blacks and bright whites and offer superb quality and robustness.
• Prints have a consistent and neutral image tone (no colour cast).
• Strong blacks and detailed highlights.
• Bright white base for stunning black and white photographs.
• Superb quality and robustness.
